Below is a list of the US Government-sponsored programs that are available to Azerbaijanis looking to travel to or study in the United States. Please click on the program name for detailed information.
FLEXYouth Exchange programs with the countries of the Soviet Union began in the 1980s. Exchanges between the U.S and the USSR, which focused on graduate students and scholars, began earlier, in the 1950s. FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR PROGRAMThe Fulbright Scholar Program provides grants to qualified Azerbaijani citizens to conduct research at America's most prestigious universities and institutions of higher learning. FULBRIGHT STUDENT PROGRAMFulbright Student Program is administered by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Embassy of the United States of America. COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS PROGRAMCommunity Connections, a program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), promotes public diplomacy, economic growth and the development of civil society in Eurasia through an exchange of experiences, culture and values among program participants, American families, host businesses and local communities. U.S. MILITARY SCHOLARSHIPS The U.S. Embassy is accepting applications for the U.S. military academies’ academic year 2009. JUNIOR FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMThe Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) is a program of Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State. CONTEMPORARY ISSUES PROGRAMContemporary Issues was a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, and implemented by IREX. TEAThe Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and implemented by IREX, a Washington, DC-based non-profit organization. INTERNATIONAL VISITOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAMThe International Visitor Leadership Program annually brings to the United States approximately 5,000 foreign nationals from all over the world to meet and confer with their professional counterparts and to experience America firsthand. MUSKIEThe Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program (Muskie) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, and administered by IREX. U-GRADThe Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State and administered by IREX. OPEN WORLDThe Open World Program enables emerging Russian leaders to experience U.S. democracy and free enterprise in action in communities across the United States. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN TRANSATLANTIC FELLOW BFTF Initiative was launched in 2006 and aims to help students to find opportunities to foster relationships among youth from Eurasia, Europe and American in order to advance links and awareness of shared values, encounter principles of freedom and cooperation as challenges of the global 21st Century.
